Nihongo gets improved search and huge kanji updates in version 1.34 update
Nihongo 1.34 is here, and it brings some quality-of-life improvements like multi-word search, as well as a huge update to the kanji breakdowns and etymology.
I've updated the kanji data to include more detailed origin stories for over 1000 kanji, and added 300 more visual histories to the app. Plus, I hand-reviewed all 2136 joyo kanji entries to fix all remaining kanji with missing or broken stroke diagrams for kanji elements, missing descriptions of pictograms or ideograms, and cleaned up missing character text wherever possible. Overall, the kanji breakdowns finally live up to my original vision for the feature, and I hope you enjoy them!
I also published an FAQ (in all 8 languages the app supports) with answers to common questions about how the SRS flashcard system works, how to export flashcards to Anki, and a lot more.
